San Francisco 49ers information
The 49ers were National Football League's dream team from 1981-94, claiming five Superbowl championships. But after decades of chilly, fumbled games at foggy Candlestick Park, the 49ers moved to Santa Clara's brand-new Levi's Stadium in 2014. Some fans argue the team should be renamed, since Santa Clara's 38 miles from San Francisco. But it was a winning move: Levi's Stadium is hosting Superbowl 50 in 2016.
Since the new stadium is in Silicon Valley, it's tricked out with technology, from the power-generating solar roof to wifi-enabled tickets and concessions. Maybe there's hope yet: in a superstitious effort to align the team with San Francisco Giants' bearded winning streak, the team's bread-loving mining mascot Sourdough Sam now sports a beard.
