Intersection for the Arts

Lonely Planet review

Watch this nonprofit arts space – since its founding in 1965, riveting and entirely unforeseen events have unfolded at Intersection. Hot jazz drawn from Latin, Asian and African American traditions punctuates the calendar of theater premieres by noted playrights, including adapted works by Pulitzer Prize–winner Junot Díaz, National Book Award–winner Denis Johnson and American Book Award–winning poet Jessica Hagedorn.

Intersection won a major grant to transform the former SF Chronicle building into a space for innovation and cultural transformation, and the ground-floor gallery installations regularly make good on that promise. Check the website for openings, workshops, lectures, and jazz in the streets Friday at noon with Off the Grid food trucks (see website for details).
