Hash House Harriers

Hash House Harriers is a well-established running club with chapters all over the world. But you shouldn't think of it as an athletic organization. As members of 'the Hash' will say, they are drinkers with a running problem - their goal is to work up a thirst and an appetite every Monday evening.

One member is designated as the Hare, and lays out a paper chase, a route marked with paper or chalk full of devious detours, false leads and dead ends. All the others are the Harriers who try to find their way through bad neighborhoods, muddy fields, rubbish heaps and the odd convent or finishing school. At the end of the run there are wacky ceremonies, plenty of beer and sometimes some pretty good food. All are welcome to runs; call or check the website for the week's rendezvous point.
