Lonely Planet review for Rocky Mountain Diner
If you're into things 'old-fashioned' and 'chicken-fried', then yee-haw yourself to this comfy-boothed, family-friendly restaurant. It serves sandwiches, salads and hearty American fare, and for the curious (and very hungry), more exotic dishes such as venison soup or buffalo meatloaf.

As a connoisseur of diners, I'm constantly in search of new diner experiences. Expecting to encounter a more traditional diner, I was truly surprised in many ways by Rocky Mountain Diner! Situated in an historic area of the city, the decor is more reminiscent of a restaurant & tavern for bankers or attorneys and the like than a 'diner'. The menu offers traditional diner fare as well as dishes to satisfy the more adventurous or refined palate. I ordered the fried chicken dinner, which took a bit longer to be served because it was freshly fried to order, and it was by far the most delicious fried chicken I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Golden brown, crispy skin, and very moist and full of flavor. The staff was accommodating, serving us even though we'd arrived just before closing time. This diner is a hidden gem in the heart of downtown Denver.
