Fusion restaurants in USA

  1. bb's

With its molded-concrete bar, clean, modern lines and daily cheese selection, this Euro-staurant may initially feel hipper-than-thou. But pull up a seat, chat with the staff and discover they're just like you – only dressed entirely in black. The chocolate ganache cake alone is worth the trip.

  2. A

    Chef Mavro

The most avant-garde of Honolulu's haute restaurants, Chef Mavro creates conceptual dishes using green tea-dusted zucchini-blossom tempura appetizer with a glass of German Moselle wine. Textures and fragrances are just as important as flavor and great care is used to pair food and wine.

  3. B

    Duc's Bistro

Honolulu's power brokers hang out at this swank French-Vietnamese bistro with a tiny Manhattan-like bar. Fusion highlights include noodles in lime sauce, seafood paella, vermicelli with spring rolls, and avocado and green papaya salad. A small jazz combo performs on most evenings.

  4. C

    Crustacean

Push through the posh French Colonial doors and follow the glass-covered koi pond to the elegant but accessible main dining room. Favorites on the seafood-centric menu include drunken crab, royal tiger prawns and garlic noodles or garlic mashed potatoes. Reservations recommended.

  5. D

    Good Karma

Whenever possible, local and organic ingredients are used in the Indo-Persian meals with an Asian accent at Good Karma. You'll recognize the place by the Tibetan prayer flags flapping out front.

  6. E

    Azul

Falling-water windows, clean metallic spaces and curving copper facades complement one of the nicest views of the city. The Scandi-tastic decor works in harmony with a menu that marries the Mediterranean to Asia; try the oysters wrapped in beef and hamachi carpaccio.

  7. F

    Nemo

Raw bars and warm, copper sconces are a good sign; the nudge into greatness comes when Asian elegance graces Latin-American exuberance. Fish with chimichurri sauce and kiss-the-grill nori-dusted tuna are a few jewels plucked from this fusion gem mine.

  8. G

    Roppongi

Tapas-style Asian fusion shines at this gorgeous eatery with clever lighting that makes everyone look good. The Polynesian crab stack, piled high and tossed at table, is a killer choice, and the ahi tuna with watermelon is a surprising flavor bomb.

  9. H

    Sensi

At this soothing spot tucked inside the spa tower, minimalist architecture complements a harmonious menu of seafood and pastas showing off Asian and European influences. Happily, Jean-Philippe Patisserie is just around the corner.

  12. J

    Kemo Sabe

Send your tastebuds on a bold journey to where Asia meets the American Southwest, both in the decor and on the plate. Thai jerk smoked duck salad and 10-spice honey chicken are typical of chef Deborah Scott's audacious fusion fare.

  13. K

    Shabu

Hip, inventive Asian small plates and namesake shabu shabu (a hotpot of flavorful broth with meat or veggies).

  14. L

    Yum Cha

Here, Asian-fusion cuisine is presented tapas style. Flavors cover the gamut, from Chinese (dim-sum-style dumplings, crispy Mandarin chicken) to Thai (green-papaya salad, lemongrass-and-prawn soup) to Vietnamese (lettuce wraps).

  15. Monkey Cat Restaurant

The smart decor accented by local artworks is the right setting for creative casual fare that ranges from unusual salads and huge burgers at lunch to steaks and seafood with fusion accents at dinner. It has a quiet patio.

  16. M

    Zemi

The chef here perfected his eclectic fusion cuisine at the excellent Nemo in South Beach before exciting the Boca foodie crowd. Chili-crusted shrimp and succulent, marinated grilled skirt steaks are just the beginning.

  17. N

    Lulou’s

At this arty gourmet eatery on an otherwise drab stretch, bold canvases hang on brick walls and creative chefs fuss over modern American and Eurasian concoctions in the open kitchen. Reservations essential.

  18. O

    Hurricane Kate's

The favorite spot of local bon vivants, Kate's open kitchen pumps out pretty-good, eclectic, tapas-style dishes and roast meats, but the wood-fired pizzas are the standout. Full bar.

  19. P

    Duff's

The hippies who once tossed back cheap Chablis here are now enjoying the many fine wines on the long list. Duff's has gentrified with the neighborhood and serves an eclectic fusion menu of sandwiches, salads and more ambitious fare. Score a sidewalk table outside under the trees.

The hottest destination on the Fort Myers eating radar at time of research. It’s a sexy place that serves innovative dishes in the New Floridian vein.

  23. S

    Camille's

This healthy and tasty neighborhood joint is the kind of place where players on the Key West High School softball team are served by friends from their science class, and the hostess is the pitcher's mom – when Conchs head out for a casual meal, they often come here. For 20 years the homey facade of Camille's has concealed a sharp kitchen that makes a mean chicken-salad sandwich, stone crab claws with Dijon mayo and a macadamia-crusted yellowtail we shudder (with pleasure) to recall.

  24. T

    Sack's Café

A bright, colorful restaurant serving Asian-Mediterranean fusion fare that is consistently creative (reservations recommended).

  25. Gypsy Cab Co

Across the bridge from downtown, this arty turquoise-and-purple bistro is a local fave for an eclectic menu spanning Italian pastas, French strip steaks, Asian tofu and Middle Eastern hummus platters.

  26. U

    Sabuku Sushi

Newcomer Sabuku impresses with fresh sushi, inventive vegetarian rolls and small plates such as elk tataki (like carpaccio, with an Asian twist).

  27. Seasons 52

We love the concept and the execution at Seasons 52. The concept? A menu that partially rotates on a weekly basis depending on what is seasonally available (now the title makes sense). The execution? Warm flatbreads overlaid with sharp melted cheese and steak; tiger shrimp tossed in a light pasta and chili that manages elegance and heartiness all at once.
