  1. A

    Tuck Shop

Homemade pasties, sausage rolls and sandwiches of all sorts are the rule at Tuck, where everything's done organic and fresh. Daily pie specials include a chook curry pie, shepherd's pie, vegan pie, tiger prawn pie, chili pie and more. Desserts are a treat, including the Dame Edna delight and Peter Allen pie, but perhaps the best is the early morning breakfast: lashings of meat with fresh eggs and cheese, served with steaming cups of fair-trade organic coffee.

  2. B

    Bondi Road

What it lacks in width it makes up for in height. Still, Bondi Road is a tight squeeze on weekend nights. Slide onto one of the big barstools at the tables, check out the huge montages of Bondi Beach running down each wall, then take a stab at filling out your menu with the little stub pencils handed out. You pick a fish (mackerel or cod, for example), a cooking method (like grilled, fried or sautéed) and a side dish (french fries, usually). Then drink as much Aussie beer as you can with the rowdy crowd till your food comes.
