Bus

Greyhound (503-243-2357; www.greyhound.com; 550 NW 6th Ave) connects Portland with cities along I-5 and I-84. Destinations include Chicago, Boise, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver.

If you’re traveling between Portland, Olympia and Seattle, consider patronizing Shared Route (503-502-5750; www.sharedroute.org), which provides service three times weekly on a biodiesel bus.

Train

Amtrak (503-241-4290; www.amtrak.com; NW 6th Ave & Irving St) serves the following destinations:

Chicago $237, two days, two daily.
