Lonely Planet review for Paradox Cafe

A cosy favorite in the charming Belmont neighborhood, the Paradox whips up vegetarian and vegan treats like a tempeh Reuben that could win over the most devoted steak lover. (If not, though, there's also the organic, hormone-free beef burger.) Its kitsch decor includes a soda-fountain counter and blue vinyl booths.

    Great vegan food

    vulferius recommends this,

The Paradox is a small cafe that serves a killer breakfast. The biscuits and gravy are especially good for those of us who miss the meat-based favorite. The wait staff is pretty good but they always seem to have too many customers to juggle so they can be, inadvertently, inattentive. Seating is limited to four per table and be prepared for a bit of a wait unless you're an early-bird.

    the ultimate hang-over cure

    sonja222 recommends this,

this place is really tasty and full of lots of great breakfast staples with a local, veggie or vegan-friendly twist. As with most good brunch places, there is almost always a line, but that almost makes the food all the more tasty when you get to it! Its small inside, so be considerate and don't bring huge groups if possible.

    Vegan! Organic! Convenient!

    xanham recommends this,

We love the Paradox Café. We host many touring bands as they pass through Portland, and frequently at least one of their members are vegan. We know we can count on the Paradox fabulous breakfasts to impress them! And there is actually meat there, too, if the rest of the band are insatiably carnivorous. I feel good about the choices the Paradox has made about the food they stock and serve. Guilt free brunch! And it's always fresh, yummy, and, although there can be a wait if it's packed, well worth it.
