Lonely Planet review

Frank Lloyd Wright is known as one of the great American architects and luckily for Buffalo, six of his 'Prairie School' buildings still exist in the city. Though most are privately occupied, perhaps the finest of these buildings, the 1904 Darwin Martin House, is being restored and can be viewed by appointment.

The huge complex, commissioned by industrialist Darwin D. Martin, was designed as a whole by Wright and includes gardens, a pergola, conservatory and the smaller Barton house (118 Summit Ave), built for the sister and brother-in-law of Martin.
