Lonely Planet review for Gantry Plaza State Park

The riverside Gantry Plaza State Park has nice views of Midtown across the East River and massive railroad gantries (with ‘Long Island’ painted in huge red letters on the west-facing side) that were in service until 1967. Just south is Harry’s at Water Taxi Beach, a bar on, yes, a real beach.
