This independent bookstore, first opened with a lesbian bent, has now expanded its turf to radicalism of all kinds. It’s still women-owned, though, and its shelves have a strong selection of dyke and feminist lit and crit – along with tomes on gender studies, global capitalism, democracy studies, black liberation and police and prison systems. It’s also the site of a vegan, organic, fair-trade cafe, as well as myriad readings and speaking events, including women’s poetry readings, workshops on radical protests and even a monthly Dyke Knitting Circle.
