Lonely Planet review for Angelica Kitchen
This enduring herbivore classic has a calming vibe – candles, tables both intimate and communal and a mellow, longtime staff – and enough creative options to make your head spin. Some dishes get too-cute names (Sacre-Coeur Basmatica in Paris, Thai Mee Up) but all do wonders with tofu, seitan, spices and soy products, and sometimes an array of raw ingredients. Standards like the Pantry Plate – which lets you choose from a list of a dozen or so veggie concoctions and special salads – or the Dragon Bowl, a Buddha’s delight with seasonal greens, tubers, tofu, seaweed and brown rice piled high, will leave you feeling both virtuous and full. Creative puddings and cakes only sweeten the deal.

Veg-head heaven!
remelila recommends this,
Whether you're a diehard vegan or an omnivore who loves a good vegetarian meal, this meatless East Village restaurant is an institution. The Dragon Bowl is a deceptively simple and fantastically filling meal. The dining room gets crowded and a bit noisy, though, especially on weekends.

A Little Vegan Piece of Heaven
kaityyt13 recommends this,
Angelica Kitchen is a fantastic, eco-friendly establishment that provides its patrons with a calm, zen-like atmosphere while serving up a storm with their delicious organic, vegan fare. One is sure to find something to suit his/her palate, and each dish is designed to perfection. I'd find it nearly impossible for customers to resist Angelica's Walnut-Lentil Pâté with rice crackers or their Three-Bean Chili with Southern style cornbread? And when the check comes, only cash is accepted, perhaps as a way to reduce the carbon footprint that credit cards facilitate or even make payment travel quickly to the small, diversified family farms and independently owned local businesses that Angelica supports.
Good for: Romance, atmosphere, food, Budget Travellers, Groups, Solo Travellers, Families
