Lonely Planet review for Cafe Glechik

A welcome break from the stuffy supper clubs, this chatty hole in the wall serves all the hits from the motherland, including stuffed cabbage rolls, a mean borscht, kebabs and fruit compote drinks, but it’s most famous for its pelmeni and vereniki – two varieties of dumplings. Staff may ask ‘ gotovie? ’ (meaning ‘ready?’) when sidling up to your table.

    Glechik on Sheepshead Bay

    arp4257 does not recommend this,

The food was good and that is the only good thing I can say about this place. This place has the most rude and unpleasant staff I ever encountered in my life. I believe I was better treated in McDonald. We made reservations for 2 PM. In the beginning we ordered salads and were waiting for other guests who were late. Around 3 PM we were approached by management and were told to order everything because they have another party scheduled around 5 so they want us to leave 4:45 the latest. Needless to say when we made reservations nobody warned us about any time limits. For the rest of the meal we were unceasingly harassed by management and stuff. It was the most unpleasant experience.
