Soy Luck Club

When it first opened, this storefront cafe seemed a bit too theme-oriented to last. Soy, after all, isn’t the sexiest selling point. But here it stands, several years later – a cool corner filled with hip locals (who love the free wi-fi), a flood of sunlight, and a counter bursting with compelling snacks and creative beverages. While many of the menu items are indeed soy-based – the soy chicken and avocado sandwich, and the mesclun, edamame and soy-nut salad, just for starters – there’s plenty here for the soy-phobic. Panini, salads and brunch items, some even containing meat, abound. Best of all, everything is fresh and tasty, especially the signature drinks, which consist of soymilk, either steamed or iced, mixed with additions from dark chocolate to honey and ginger.
