The gastropub craze has come to the East Village, but with a minimalist twist (in terms of decor). EU (yes, that stands for European Union) has old-world comfort food such as gnocchi with braised capon, boar with Swiss-chard fondue, and grilled octopus with braised quince. There's plenty of choice beyond the hearty mains, too – like a small tapas menu, a raw bar and a range of charcuterie plates.
