A loud and lofty instant neighborhood hotspot since opening in late 2007, this is a great place for brunch, with fans ranging from hungover Columbia students to frenzied families with double strollers in tow. Get there before 10:30am or be prepared to wait a long time for your light blueberry pancakes, veggie scramble and warm faro porridge. Or just skip the weekend rush and bop in for a no-nonsense, candlelit lunch or dinner of warm lentil salad, ‘bowl of beets’ (with pistachio nuts, goat cheese and balsamic vinegar), country fried chicken or a grass-fed beef burger.
