Lonely Planet review for Bubby’s Pie Company

One of the most consistently popular eateries in Tribeca, this low-key standby is a great draw for families with kids, who are welcome and easily sated with a special kids’ menu brimming with classics from chicken fingers to buttered spaghetti. Adult draws include the mellow, high-ceilinged ambience and excellent takes on homey basics: luscious mac-and-cheese, slow-cooked BBQ including Texas-style brisket, grits, matzo-ball soup, buttermilk fried chicken and a selection of Mexican plates – all melt-in-your-mouth good. A Dumbo, Brooklyn outpost of Bubby's has a kids' play area, a swankier dining room and sweeping views of the city.

    sucked!

    unit8246 does not recommend this,

I ate their on a trip to NYC. I, later, read an article on who the head chef was. Curtis Brown use to be a singer of one of the craziest rock bands out (not a good crazy). I saw him once play with his self and then wipe a guys head in the front row, then poured a beer on his head! He followed this up by trying to start a fight with everyone in the front row. He also cooked at this joint in Los Angeles and smoked weed in the back and was very rude to customers. I am disgusted that I ate food that his hands touched! And, by the way, it was way over priced for the type of food it is.

    jade2605 recommends this,

We ate here quite alot during our stay, the reason being is the food is great.
Proper american fayre with proper american sizes.
What ever meal you have you wont be displeased.
The breakfast is delicious, my friend had an omlet with jalopeno peppers, whilst i had traditional pancakes, bacon and maple syrup.
They bring round free scones, straight from the oven - very welcomed!

We also shared a Banana Pie - it was absolute heaven, and the best dessert we had in NY.
The atmosphere is chilled, the deco is shabby chic and the prices were very reasonable.
A great place to stop if your visiting Ground Zero area.
