Lonely Planet review for Les Halles

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain still reigns at this packed and serious brasserie where vegetarians need not apply. Among the elegant light-fixture balls, dark wood paneling and stiff white tablecloths you’ll find a buttoned-up, meat-lovin’ crowd with deep pockets. They’ve come for rich and decadent favorites including cote de boeuf, choucroute garnis and steak au poivre, as well as more standard moules frites, New York strip steak, salad niçoise and grilled salmon. The lists of wine, single-malt scotches and other liquors are impressive, as are the desserts, from the crème brûlée to the tarte tatin.

    French Brasserie done well

    andy113 recommends this,

I think this is the second location of this restaurant at which Anthony Bourdain is still very loosely connected from what I understand. It was just around the block our hotel (Millenium Hilton). Nice brasserie decor although it seemed to be a bit commercialized for my taste; not
because of Bourdain but just in it's posted promotions of events and their chef hall of fame. Plus it was a bit dead atmosphere-wise but probably due to the fact that our reservation was for 5:45pm because we had a show to catch uptown at 8pm. I had the Moroccan lamb sausage and frites, both of which were great! The sausage was small and narrow, even narrower than the cheese blintzes at Diamond Dairy. Very tasty with just the right spiciness and a dipping sauce on the side to make it even spicier if desired. Rita had the steak frites. We both agreed that the frites were some of the best we've had, certainly in the U.S. and perhaps even in Europe. For dessert we had just about the best chocolate mousse we've ever had.

Check it out and enjoy the good food. Just don't expect to see Anthony Bourdain here.
