Tavern On The Green

Located just inside Central Park and just steps away from Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center, is this fun but somewhat expensive restaurant. A large salad and a bottle of mineral water can set you back around $50.00. Nevertheless, 'Tavern on the Green' is a well known landmark and its primary attraction is its decor. I know of no other restaurant, having such large and vivid murals, or having so many plants and ornaments. I've found however, that it can all be a bit disorienting and that I often get lost whenever I'm wondering about. Whenever the weather becomes warm enough, that is when the patio and the solarium open up for seating. Always remember this one word, 'reservations'!

Set in magnificent Central Park, Tavern on the Green is the perfect place for a romantic dinner or peaceful afternoon tea.  The restaurant is divided into two areas.  Fine dining, set in a unique glass sunroom and casual dining in the most beautiful outdoor garden with a view of Central Park.  The food is expensive but worth it, if not just to sit and experience such a great setting. 

Don't leave without taking a walk inside.  The old dining room and hallways feature beautiful antique furniture and historic images of New York and the restaurant.  Overall, a great way  to spend a quite sunny afternoon in New York City.
