Lonely Planet review
Steeped in history (James Dean lived in room 803 from 1951 to 1953), this classic 114-room hotel radiates Old New York charm and an enviable location in the heart of Midtown.
It's a wonderfully atmospheric place, complete with a small oak library; intimate cocktail salon, Lantern's Keep ; and superb French-inspired restaurant, Triomphe (attracting a loyal pretheater crowd). Some rooms on the top three of its dozen floors face the Chrysler Building through a canyon of Midtown buildings. Softly colored, with classic wooden furniture, all rooms have goose-down pillows and small, Italian marble bathrooms. There's a small fitness center and sauna, as well as complimentary shoe shine service. Jimmy Dean must have dug that.
Our independent authors have visited The Iroquois and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Midtown.
