Lonely Planet review
This red-brick mansion from the 1880s houses HI’s 672 well-scrubbed bunks. It’s rather 19th-century industrial, but benefits include good public areas, a backyard (that sees barbecue action in the summer), a communal kitchen and a cafe. There are loads of activities on offer, from walking tours to club nights. There are attractive private rooms with private bathrooms, too. The hostel is alcohol-free. Wi-fi throughout the building.
Our independent authors have visited Hostelling International New York and selected this as one of our recommended hostels in Upper West Side & Central Park.
