Lonely Planet review for 'Cesca

Though it’s renowned for its upscale Italian fare, the cozy front lounge and bar area here are also worth a trek. With lots of dark wood, some romantic tables and a large free-floating bar in the center of the room, the front area of ’Cesca is handsome in a gentlemen’s smoking lounge sort of way. There’s an impressive list of wines by the glass, plus great bar food.

    'Cesca

    grl121104 recommends this,

I have been to 'Cesca twice, once by myself and the second time with a party of 15, both times I found the food and the service to be outstanding. For an appetizer I had the mussels with white wine, pepper, lemon and garlic, excellent. The salads are very good and unlike the pedestrian salads so often found in other italian restaurants- arugula with goat cheese, focaccia croutons with a lemon vinagarette and the escarole salad with hazelnuts, red onion, mint and peccorino with a sherry vinagarette- both were good contrasts between bitter and sweet and lent nice balance to the pallete. The butternut squash ravioli with balsamic brown butter and sage, was a different twist then most ravioli's and lastly I had the Heritage pork chop with smoked bacon heirloom beans and fried rapine (broccoli rabe) the pork was cooked to perfection not too overdone and still juicy. I usually dont order pork chop because most restaurants and this even happens at home, tend to overcook and the meat comes out dry and tasteless. As I mentioned earlier, I went by myself to see if I liked the food and decor, before I booked a large party. The food was excellent, the decor was equal to the food- rustic country feel and they had a private room that could accomodate 25 people which was perfect for my party of 15 ( they also have large tables that are semi private and can accomodate up to 10 people). The service was very attentitive and did not keep us waiting long in between courses. In all on a scale of 1-5, I would give 'Cesca 4 stars!!
