G Lounge
Glossy and unpretentious, this gay bar is as straight-friendly as they come, and it's really all about the music. DJs rotate daily, but Tuesday is always BoyBox night. Check out the website to find out who's spinning while you're in town. For heavy drinking and dancing with no cover, you can't beat G – although you may have to wait in line to get in. Dress at G Lounge is refreshingly casual. Cash only.

Therapy
Industry may be the street's new hot shot, but this multilevel, contemporary space was the first gay man’s lounge/club to draw throngs to Hell’s Kitchen. It still draws the crowds with its nightly shows (from music to comedy) and decent fare Sunday to Friday (burgers, hummus, salads). Drink monikers team with the theme: Oral Fixation and Size Queen, to name a few.

Splash Bar
As megaclubs come and go, this staple (found near Chelsea’s eastern border with the Flatiron District) has become hotter than ever. It’s a multilevel club that balances both a lounge and dance-club vibe, thanks to a mix of hang-out spaces, an unrivaled lineup of DJs, great special events and performances, and some of the most smokin’ bartenders around.

Cock
A dark, dank spot that’s proud of its sleazy-chic reputation, this is the place to join lanky hipster boys and rage until you’re kicked out at 4am. Varying theme nights present popular parties with live performers, DJs, drag-queen hostesses, nearly naked go-go boys and porn videos on constant loops. It’s wild and friendly.

Barracuda
This longtime favorite holds its own even as newer, slicker places come and go. That’s because it’s got a simple, winning formula: affordable cocktails, a cozy rec-room vibe and free entertainment from some of the city’s top drag queens.

Eastern Bloc
Though the theme may be ‘Iron Curtain,’ the drapery is most definitely velvet and taffeta at this East Village gay bar. Hang your jacket at the ‘Goat Czech’ and spring forth into the cramped and crowded sea of boys – some flirting with the topless barkeeps, others pretending not to stare at the retro '70s porno playing on the TVs.

Bar-Tini Ultra Lounge
Still going strong, this white-on-white lounge remains a gay staple in Hell's Kitchen. Its happy hour is a hit, as are its nightly special events with open drag comps, karaoke nights, guest singers and a rotating lineup of favorite local DJs.

This low-key Williamsburg hangout draws a good blend of arty gays and lesbians with its cool staff, cheap drinks, outdoor patio and groovy DJs. During the summer, it’s known for its Sunday backyard cookouts, and on Wednesday nights, it’s all about the girls.
