Lonely Planet review for Rodeo Bar & Grill
New York’s best Texas-style honkytonk is in Murray Hill? Good shows of country, bluegrass and rockabilly are staged nightly for a foot-tappin’ Manhattan crowd. There are creative margaritas and plenty of steaks, fajitas, burgers and veggie dishes, too.

Amazing Bar and Concert Venue!!!

I love this place! I go here about 5 times a month, more if my bank account will let me! They have a super long happy hour (4pm-9pm daily) where they serve any draft beer for $4 and $7 for super strong margaritas! Be careful, if you're having more than one margarita, you may want to bring a friend, just to make sure you can walk yourself outta that place! There are two bars so its never a hassle to get a bartenders attention. Also, they have free peanuts for anyone who wants to have a few or a thousand and they let you chuck the shells on the floor! They also have great food if you know what to order. And each meal comes with free chips and salsa! Did I mention how much I love this place yet? And if all that wasn't good enough for ya. You really need to check out the live music they have. I've seen famous acts come through here and I've seen really talented up and coming stars too! And the cover? free! This place is great. I love the atmosphere. When you go to Rodeo Bar, you really leave NYC, and enter a classic honkey tonk! The waiters and bartenders are great too. and they're mostly southern with great accents. Oh, almost forgot, they also have an amazing on going special, graciously called, the recession special. This special is a whiskey shot and a can of PBR to chase it. The bad parts of this bar? I'd say that if you don't do your research on the band, because of the varying genres of acts they have, you could end up on an off night where it's not your scene. Live country music, huge margaritas, go here!

Rodeo Bar is one of the most fun and relaxed places in Manhattan. There is no other place in Manhattan that plays FREE live music every night of the year. They also have a long happy hour ( I think 4-9pm or something?) EVERY night and during it you can get a $6 margarita in a huge glass. And its strong and delicious. Happy hour food specials are also amazing and most of the staff is actually from the South so its really fun to hear their accents in such a fun, decorated venue. I love this place. I am still dying to try brunch here as I've heard its really cheap and delicious!
Good for: brunch, live music, people who like country music, happy hour, margaritas, lunch specials
