Lonely Planet review for Bike the Big Apple
Biking tours let you cover more ground than walking tours – and give you a healthy dose of exercise to boot. Bike the Big Apple, recommended by NYC & Company, offers five set tours. Its most popular is the six-hour Back to the Old Country – the Ethnic Apple Tour, 12 miles of riding that covers Williamsburg, Roosevelt Island and the east side of Manhattan. Other tours visit the Bronx’ Little Italy, city parks, Brooklyn chocolate shops and Manhattan at night.

Bike the Big Apple: The highlight of our visit to NY
emontis recommends this,
We did a private tour with Jesse from Bike The Big Apple in april 2012. We loved it. He is a knowledgable and friendly guide. We were with five people, including our parents (aged: 65, 68 and 70). We bike about 20 - 25 km in Manhattan in about 8 hours. It is fun to do and you learn a lot about the city. It was the highlight of our visit and most fun thing to do.

For 5 days i was visiting NY with my daugther 16yrs. The best we did was the biking tour. It was tour E. The two guides Mike and Marc where fantastic!
They explain everything and will give answers to your questions.
I would never see and learn so much when we would go on our own.
Mike, Marc and Jessy, THNX again!.Good for: Biking NY sightseeing fantasti

Best experience in 25 years
bossfannl recommends this,
I have visited New York City 9 times in the past 25 years, but Biking the Big Apple was the most fun thing I've ever done there. I booked the Secret Streets tour. We did see secret streets -that I hadn't seen before-, but also visited the sites a first time visitor to NYC would like to see.
The tour was well organized and we received detailed information from our guide. I had a smile on my face all day long, despite the rain.
(Raincoats were supplied by the way...)
I can recommend this to everyone. -
Best experience in NYC
paulanewcombmusic recommends this,
Recently we had family come to stay with us in NYC and am so happy we signed them up for the Dusk tour with Bike the Big Apple. My family came home and raved about the experience and will for a long time to come. Unfortunately my 3 yr old and I weren't able to go but my 6 yr old daughter had the time of her life on a trail attachment behind my husband's bike. It was a 5 hour long tour and she was still the life of the party by the end. To this day she still talks about riding around NYC at night with her Dad and has even taken me to places they went on the tour and given me a "tour commentary". So it was an all-round top experience from all who went. Congratulations to the team at Bike the Big Apple. I cannot wait to experience one and probably more of these tours with my younger daughter one day and no doubt, the older one will beg to come along also. Thank you for taking such good care of my family.

the brews and views of my dreams

Spending my Saturday on Bike the Big Apple's "Delights of Brooklyn" tour was as satisfying as a favorite meal following a nap on the beach and a hot shower after a perfect yoga class. The kind of day you can really sink your teeth into. As a 30-year-old who has lived in New York for 9 years, this has to be one of the most enjoyable and enriching experiences I've had here. From the Yiddish walk of fame and view of a statue of Lenin on the roof of an LES high rise (what !?!), to Hasidic Williamsburg, a mystery mansion near the navy yard, and ordering pizza at a beer brewery, it was a totally unpredictable and spectacular afternoon. The guides' humor, knowledge, and general awesomeness made the whole experience really comfortable and lighthearted. I highly recommend this to fellow New Yorkers- definitely a fun way to spend a day with friends or on your own, and a really nice way to meet pretty damn great people from all over if you're looking for that.

A journey to remember

Being my first time in New York and my obsession with bikes, it seemed only obvious to take this tour. I signed up for Tour E, and my dad joined me at the last minute. From the get go, our group (11 split from 22) seemed lively and diverse, with riders from the Netherlands, France, and elsewhere. Our leader Max was very energetic and enthusiastic, and his positive attitude really carried the tour. Chris was also great behind the scenes (the "muscle", guarding the bikes!) I had a great time pedaling from Union Square all the way to Brooklyn, with Max pointing out a bunch of interesting facts that I would never have known otherwise. It was great talking to a fellow fixed gear rider in a different state. All in all, the tour was a great success, was timed out perfectly, and everyone had a great, relaxed, but fun-filled time. I'll definitely return next time I'm in New York, or just stop by their shop to chat with the guides.

Lovely and informative tour! Truly a highlight

This day I spent with the bike guys was truly the highlight of my whole 5 days in NYC!
We saw so much that I certainly would not have even known to see on my own.
The Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn was fascinating, and the views we got of Manhattan from Queens were breathtaking. The lunch stop was delicous and not at all tourist prices!
The guides (Jesse and Gabe, the assistant) were so knowledgable and also really ket us feeling safe, even in the parts of the city where there were no bike lanes and bike paths.
A great tour!Good for: tour, y, new york sightseeing, skylines, biking

Bike the Big Apple
seank913 recommends this,
While visiting NYC last week someone suggested I try a bike tour, after going to the website I thought it sounded pretty interesting and signed up. Well never really seeing NYC I would have to say it is absolutely the best way to see the city. You are right there in the middle of it and there are no obstructions to your view, like the roof of a car, you see it all. The guides know where to go and the best way to get there so you never have to look at a map and figure anything out. Then the rich history of the buildings, rivers, bridges, people and parks was amazing. The tour took a good part of the day but was at a nice pace so you were on the move and got a good dose of each stop. I would recommend this tour to anyone that has or hasn't seen the city up close, the guides were fun, friendly and informative. So on your next trip to NY don't forget to Bike the Big Apple!
