A
Okeanos
It’s not your grandfather’s tsar’s Russian baths, but the slick, inviting Okeanos offers the classic experience – birch-slappings in the sauna ($50), sports massages fit for hockey players (and some do come for it; $210) – and even a shot of vodka to finish. Sauna use is free if you spend more than $120 on spa treatments (which is what a one-hour massage costs).

Paul Labrecque East
Sit back with the stars at this swank uptown spa (with a salon and barbershop just for the guys). Apparently Sting has indulged in an hour-long ‘indulgent shave’ ($90); a haircut starts at $80. It’s not all for the guys, though. Paul also offers a glow tan ($140) seen on many Upper East Siders pretending to be back from el Caribe.

Spa at Mandarin Oriental
You might not be able to afford the $15,000 suites, but a splurge at the split-level spa and fitness center might be worth the plastic. Rooms are ultra exotic – one has a modern ‘Chinese wedding bed’ with Hudson River views. Full-day ‘journeys’ run about $675, massages start at $215.

Great Jones Spa
Don’t skimp on the services at this newish downtown feng shui master, complete with three-story indoor waterfall. If you spend over $100 (not hard: hour-long massages or facials start at $130), you get free time in the water lounge’s hot tub, rock sauna, chakra-light steam room and cold pool.

This chic, Asian-style spa has taken over SoHo’s spa front. Ex-models and shopping-bag toters subject aches and pains to the poking palms and thumbs of the popular ‘Oriental herbal compress’ massages (one hour, $120).

Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa
Wine therapy gets holistic at this luxe French spa, where treatments harness the antioxidant properties of grapes and vine leaves. Treatments include a Crushed Cabernet Scrub ($145) and a Wine Maker's Massage ($195). Our favorite is the Red Vine Bath ($75), yours to enjoy in a cherrywood barrel tub. You'll find the spa on the fourth floor of the Plaza Hotel.
