Domilise's is everything that makes New Orleans great: a dilapidated white shack by the river serving Dixie beer, staffed by folks who've worked here for decades, and prepping, if not the best po'boys in the city, at least the best seafood sandwich around. Cash only.

    A New Orleans Institution

    The Po-Boy is a New Orleans tradition and no place does it better than Domilise's; foot long french style bread stuffed with fried shrimp, fried oysters, ham, roast beef or any of a number of fillings. This is a family run, one room bar and restaurant where you take a number and wait in line to place your order. Popular with natives and tourists alike on a busy day the wait can be more than an hour. If you don't have the time to wait you can always call ahead and place an order for pick up.
    My favorite is the large half and half Po-Boy, which combines fried oysters and shrimp; if you want lettuce tomato and mayonnaise, just ask for it dressed.The food is filling so come hungry and don't forget to grab a cold Barq's or an Abita from the bar.
