Lonely Planet review

Business-like Bacco oozes conservative sophistication. There is no sentimentality about the contemporary decor, and the menu doesn't really push the envelope, but this is one of the city's best Italian restaurants. It offers a medley of Italian and New Orleans dishes prepared with a light hand and served by a congenial, professional staff.

Fresh basil accents a fresh pesto served with shrimp and bowtie pasta, Louisiana asserts itself in hickory grilled redfish topped by a lump of crabmeat, and the Bacco shrimp is served in a Creole sauce spiked with Abita Amber beer. From the bar comes a nice selection of specialty cocktails (the Katrina Rita packs a wallop).
