Lonely Planet review

Just finding the there that must be there is part of the fun of staying at the Interconti (apologies to Gertrude Stein). Somewhat lost amidst a vast modern office complex, the hotel has large and comfortable rooms, plus a slew of amenities aimed at business travellers.

Road warriors making calls on one of the many local petro-chemical companies (FYI: up and down the Mississippi from New Orleans is the greatest concentration chemical plants and refineries in the USA; make my water an Evian!) are the bread and butter of this large international hotel. The 479 rooms have numerous conveniences if you need to get a presentation ready, but as you may surmise from the office-like lobby, there's no real views here so don't ask. In fact the best view comes from the mural of the French Quarter in the 1800s behind the check-in desk. One useful hint: even if you don't stay here, you can usually talk your way in to use the bathrooms during Mardi Gras parades. A relief and half.
