Lonely Planet review

Shoulder up to the bar, grab a plate of red beans and rice and groove to jazz, blues or brass bands in this homey room on the edge of the Quarter.

Friday night's Tremé Brass Band gig is an opportunity to bass drummer Uncle Lionel Batiste, a local living legend. The fine drummer Shannon Powell's quartet holds things down on Sunday Night, and the joint also cooks on Monday, when Bob French takes the stage and free barbecue is served between sets. (You can pay for the good stuff any other night or duck in for lunch.)
