Getting there & away
Worcester stands at the junction of four interstate highways. About an hour’s drive will bring you here from Boston, Providence, Springfield or Hartford, CT.
Peter Pan Bus Lines (800-343-9999; www.peterpanbus.com; Union Station, 2 Washington Sq) has direct services between Worcester and Amherst ($18, two hours, four daily), Boston ($8, one hour, thirteen daily), Lenox ($30, 2½ hours, three daily) and Springfield ($17, one hour, five daily). Bonanza, operated by Peter Pan and also at Union Station, runs bus services to Providence, RI ($13, 70 minutes, one daily).
Amtrak trains (508-755-0356, 800-872-7245) stop here en route between Boston and Chicago. MBTA (617-722-3200, 800-392-6099; www.mbta.com) runs commuter trains to/from Boston ($7.75, 80 minutes, 10 daily midweek, five daily weekends). Trains for both rails leave from Union Station at Washington Sq.
