Getting there & away
Vermont Transit (802-864-6811, 800-552-8737; www.vermonttransit.com) runs daily buses (number varies seasonally) from Manchester to Middlebury ($16, two hours) and onward to Burlington and Montreal. The bus stop is at Village Valet (802-362-1226; 4945 Main St).
From Manchester Village, take the back road (West Rd) north to VT 30 to Dorset.
Manchester is 32 miles (one hour with traffic) south of Rutland via US 7, but it’s far more scenic to head north on VT 30 through Dorset and onward to Middlebury.
