MA 127/127A loops around Cape Ann, connecting Magnolia and Gloucester to Rockport. Driving the entire loop is worth it for the seaside scenery in East Gloucester, Lanesville and Annisquam. Alternatively, take the MBTA commuter rail (617-722-3200, 800-392-6100; www.mbta.com) from Boston’s North Station to Rockport ($7.75, one hour). The Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA; 978-283-7916) operates bus routes between the towns of Cape Ann.
