Over 15 summer nights, beginning at sunset, Providence's landscaped riverfront promenades spring to life with scheduled (and unscheduled) street performers, vendors, food trucks and throngs of onlookers who come to view the spectacle of 100 anchored, flaming braziers illuminating the water, marking the convergence of the Providence, Moshassuck and Woonasquatucket Rivers.

Created by Barnaby Evans in 1994, WaterFire has become locals' most loved annual event, celebrating the resurrection of sections of the river and Providence's phoenix-like transformation from a once certain fate of death by industry.
