  4. Puddle Jumping in Portland

Blog: teach travel play - 23 January 2012

“ And the rain, rain, rain, came down, down, down, and washed right over piglet.” The capital of pork and PBR, and home to an alphabetical listing of odd from Arsenic flavored ice cream to Zealots in Zebra galoshes, Portland was the logical escape route from my life in the Middle East. I even welcomed [...]

  5. I Choo Choo Choose You: The Joys of Traveling by Train

    Blog: Broke-Ass Stuart's Goddamn Website - 12 July 2011

Summertime is Adventuretime and coincidentally, like Heidi, I have found myself in Portland. And I got here by the most delightful way, the train. (From Seattle after a plane ride from SF). I love the train, and it holds a very special place in my heart much like the US Postal system.

Blog: Green Earth Guides ~ Traveling Naturally - 29 June 2011

Most people don't realize that Spain, not Italy, is the largest producer of olive oil in the world. Organic olive oils are becoming increasingly available and one of the largest producers of organic olive oil in Spain is the family-run Soler Romero.

  9. Portland: A Budget Foodie’s Heaven on Earth

    Blog: Twenty-Something Travel - 28 November 2010

I haven’t been to Oregon since I was a little kid, but this article just intensifies my suspicion that I need to get myself back there. Portland, Oregon, is a town known for its immensely reasonably standard of living. I’ve officially moved there three times over the past 10 years, but each time I move, [...]

  10. New beergeek.TV Episode – PDX Roadtrip

    Blog: thebeergeek.com - 16 October 2010

“PDX Roadtrip” is the latest episode of One Pint at a Time. We were excited to return to Portland for our ninth Oregon Brewers Festival. But with two previous beergeek.TV episodes already covering the West Coast’s best beer fest, we needed to do something different. Driving the 700 some odd miles to Portland was our [...]

  12. Rediscovering Portland

    Blog: thebeergeek.com - 5 August 2010

A lot has happened since our last visit to the Portland two years ago during the Year in Beer. Between our visits, Merideth and I have traveled to a diverse range of beer destinations and added approximately 160 breweries to our tally. Older and wiser, we had some catching up to do in the Rose [...]

  13. Our Ninth Oregon Brewers Festival

    Blog: thebeergeek.com - 29 July 2010

The 23rd edition of the Oregon Brewers Festival was our ninth. Attending six straight years at the end of the 1990s and three out of the last four years, we have seen it grow and change over the 16 year span. Changes aside, one thing remains the same: the Oregon Brewers Festival is, in my [...]

  14. Visiting Portland with Kids

    Blog: Ciao Bambino! - 13 April 2010

One visit to Portland and you’ll understand why it’s called the America’s most livable city. With its parks, festivals, waterfront and friendly demeanor, Portland has no peer. The Rose City is a perfect hub for a family with active children and teens: in little more than an hour’s drive, my son and daughter could be skiing Mt. Hood, playing on the beach, or boating in a river. Within Portland city limits, we can hike on dense forest trails, go paddling in a kayak under Portland’s famous bridges or pedal along a floating walkway.

  15. A Port of Call

    Blog: Joe's Trippin' - 16 March 2010

Being 125 kms from the ocean, one would hardly expect a city to be a major port. Portland's name is a bit of a misnomer as it was a rumoured winner of a coin toss. It could have very well been named Boston! A progressive "green" attitude is fueled by it's relatively young population.

  16. Lady of Labor Day - Portland, Oregon

    Blog: A Lady in London - 7 November 2009

Labor Day weekend took me to Portland, Oregon. Although I've lived in California for most of my life, I had never actually made it up to Portland. It was my loss. Portland is an amazing city. It is like a mix of Vancouver, Seattle, and San Francisco all in one. The city is walkable and easy to navigate, has great food, and is surrounded by amazing natural beauty.

  17. Eat my shorts

Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 23 May 2009

I ended up going out last night with a right gimpy crowd from the hostel, all sorts of different people and nationalities. There was one posh girl from Luxembourg with a disgusting outlook on life who hadn’t been informed that the yuppy scene was cancelled many moons ago. Honestly she was like the direct female [...]

  18. A book for a buck

Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 22 May 2009

This hostel is a bit short on livelyness (in that I’ve not made any pals to go out with so the nights are a bit dull) but it’s excellent in every other respect. You get free pizza! I’d already started cooking pasta when it turned up last night so what could I do but eat [...]
