Lonely Planet review
One of the great things about staying in a large, unsightly concrete building is that you don't have to look at it. Such is the case with this place, a surprisingly pleasant Holiday Inn, with friendly laid-back service and excellent bay views.
The rooms here are clean and comfortable, with royal blue carpeting, polished wooden furniture and space to stretch out. Sure they aren't winning any design awards, but at least the place has windows, and big ones at that. If you opt for a room ending in 00, 02, 04, 06 or 08, you will be blessed with those wondrous views we mentioned. The big-boat mural in the lobby (and on all the floors) is another nice touch, but the pea-soup green uniforms the staff wear might make you a little seasick. One other thing to keep in mind: although it's the Inn by the Bay, you're a good four blocks from the waterfront. Thankfully, it's fairly quiet here, without the ruckus surrounding some other Old Port locations.
