Lonely Planet review
Once a private mansion, this gracious, redbrick building is named for William Lloyd Garrison, the abolitionist who was born in Newburyport. After a recent overhaul, its 24 luxurious 'boudoirs' are done up in an elegant, eclectic mix of contemporary and classic. Original architectural features such as exposed-brick walls, cathedral ceilings and spiral staircases are highlighted.
The restaurant on-site, David's Tavern, is acclaimed for its menu of eclectic American haute cuisine (not to mention child care while you dine!).
Our independent authors have visited Garrison Inn and selected this as one of our recommended boutique hotels in Newburyport.
