Getting there & away
Cape Air (800-352-0714; www.flycapeair.com) has frequent flights from Boston, Nantucket, Hyannis and Providence to Martha’s Vineyard Airport. One-way fares range from $56 from Hyannis (25 minutes) to $169 from Boston (40 minutes).
Car and passenger ferries operated by the Steamship Authority (508-477-8600; www.steamshipauthority.com; round-trip adult/child 5-12/bike/car $14/7.50/6/130) run from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven (nine per day in summer) and to Oak Bluffs (five per day), a 45-minute voyage. If you’re bringing a car book as far in advance as possible.
From Falmouth Harbor, the passenger ferry Island Queen (508-548-4800; www.islandqueen.com; 75 Falmouth Heights Rd; round-trip adult/child 3-12/bike $15/7/6) sails to Oak Bluffs at least seven times daily in summer.
From Hyannis, Hy-Line Cruises (508-778-2600, 800-492-8082; www.hylinecruises.com; Ocean St Dock; round-trip adult/child 5-12/bike slow ferry $37/19/12, fast ferry $59/43/12) operates a slow ferry (1½ hours) once daily to Oak Bluffs and a high-speed ferry (55 minutes) five times daily.
