Lonely Planet review for Roosevelt Campobello International Park

Once beyond Lubec, you’re in Canada, specifically on Campobello Island, home to Roosevelt Campobello International Park. Franklin Roosevelt’s father, James, bought land here in 1883 and built a palatial summer ‘cottage.’ The future US president spent many boyhood summers here, and he was later given the 34-room cottage. Franklin and Eleanor made brief, but well-publicized, visits during his long tenure as president.
