Getting there & around
Driving from Laconia to North Conway, take US 3 to NH 25 to NH 16 (1½ hours, 50 miles). Concord Trailways (603-228-3300, 800-639-3317; www.concordtrailways.com) runs a route between Boston and Berlin. Pick it up at the Evans Expressmart/Exxon gas station in Tilton or the Munce’s Konvenience/Citgo gas station in New Hampton. Buses go south to Concord ($6.50, one hour), Manchester ($9.50, 1½ hours), Boston ($18.50, 2½ hours) or Logan International Airport ($24, 2½ hours). Heading north, you can go to North Conway (1½ hours), Jackson (1½ hours), Pinkham Notch (two hours) or all the way up to Gorham and Berlin.
The Greater Laconia Transit Agency (603-528-2496, 800-294-2496; all-day pass adult/child $2/1; Jul-early Sep) runs shuttle trolleys through town to Weirs Beach and Meredith.
