Introducing Laconia & Around

The largest town of the Lakes Region, Laconia has a host of important services (including a hospital) and a small, quaint downtown. Laconia is also the gateway to hiking or skiing on Belknap Mountain (2384ft) and swimming at Ellacoya State Beach. Most visitors, however, whiz through Laconia en route to other destinations. Neighboring Gilford, in the shadow of Belknap Mountain, is joined at the hip to Laconia, while towns near the lake like Glendale and Alton are the bigger draw with pine-shaded guesthouses and cottages overlooking the idyllic waterfront.
