To reach Great Wass Island, follow ME 187 through Jonesport and onto the bridge (it’ll be on your right). Cross the bridge and turn left. A little more than a mile further on, cross the small causeway that connects Beals Island to Great Wass Island and turn right. A small ‘Nature Conservancy’ sign points the way. A mile later, the paved road ends, and after another 1.5 miles on an unpaved road, you’ll come to the Great Wass Island parking lot. It holds about a dozen cars. If the parking lot is full, please don’t park on the road; the Conservancy sign suggests that you go away and come back some other time.
