Getting there & around
Short-haul ‘commuter’ subsidiaries of some major airlines link Lebanon Municipal Airport (603-298-8878), 6 miles south of Hanover, with Boston, New York and Philadelphia.
It’s a three-hour drive to Hanover from Boston; take I-93 to I-89 to I-91. From Hanover to Burlington, Vermont (VT), it’s an additional 2½ hours north via I-89. Vermont Transit (802-864-6811, 800-552-8737; www.vermonttransit.com) has direct buses from Hanover to Logan International Airport ($38.50, three hours) and Manchester International Airport ($21, three hours). There is also a service to Burlington, VT (two hours) and Montreal, Québec (four hours).
Dartmouth Coach (603-448-2800; www.dartmouthcoach.com) operates five daily shuttles from Hanover to Logan International Airport and South Station in Boston (adult/child one way $35/25, three hours).
Advance Transit (802-295-1824; www.advancetransit.com) provides a free service to White River Junction, Lebanon, West Lebanon and Norwich. Bus stops are indicated by a blue-and-yellow AT symbol.
