On any given day or night and you can find dread locked hippies playing board games, businessmen in suits businessmen in suits discus politics, college students on laptops or workers enjoying a beer after their shift. The overwhelming vibe of Carol's Main Street Café is mutual acceptance. This is a comfortable place to stop by for refreshments, free live music or just to sit down and relax without feeling pressured to buy a lot of stuff.

It offers the perfect blend of eclectic atmosphere, comfort, delicious and organic refreshment, and entertainment. Carol's Main Street Café has something for everyone. There's free live music every night at Carol's Main Street Café. Sometimes it's open mic night, but usually it's local or traveling acts. The acts are relatively unknown, but that doesn't mean they’re not good. They have a number of comfortable seating options at the, including an easy chair, a couch, a couple of booths, and numerous barstools. This is a huge advantage of Carol's Main Street Café over other cafes in Brattleboro and elsewhere is that you're not sitting in uncomfortable half-back wooden chairs or cheap stools.

The cafe is decorated with paintings by local artists, which are available for sale. There is also an old cigarette vending machine stocked with small pieces of art available for sale.

The Carol's Main Street Café has a variety of board games in stock, as well as crayons and local newspapers. If you bring a laptop, you can take advantage of free wireless internet in. They also have a computer equipped with internet for free public use.

Carol's Main Street Café isn't air conditioned, but usually that's not a problem in Vermont. It also lacks the sterile, dry décor of chain cafes, so if you're expecting Starbucks, you're out of luck. For anyone else this may be the only place in Brattleboro where you can really relax and hear free live music or play a game, and not get pressured into buying something.
