Introducing Blue Hill
This small, dignified coastal town is set with elegant houses backed by the forested Blue Hill mountain rising in the background. Many fine handicrafts artisans live and work here, and a summer chamber music series draws fine musicians.

Blue Hill’s well-manicured appeal, however, is hardly a secret, and its handful of antique stores, inns and restaurants gather summertime crowds, and the road through town backs up with traffic.
The Blue Hill Chamber of Commerce (207-374-3232; www.bluehillme.com; 28 Water St; 10am-4pm Mon-Fri, 9am-1pm Sat Jun-Sep) distributes a free map and numerous area brochures.
Held on the first week of September, the Blue Hill Fair (www.bluehillfair.com) is kick-up-your-boots, down-home fun, with oxen and horse pulls, livestock shows, fireworks, a petting zoo, carnival rides and other countrified things to do. It’s held at the fairgrounds northeast of the town center on ME 172.
