   You probably can’t get on the famous Brookline Country Club, but you can play next door at Putterham, a less famed but perfectly pleasant public course. Wide fairways and a lack of water hazards make it a suitable course for all levels.

   Take Huntington Ave west to Boylston St (Rte 9); turn left on Hammond St, then turn onto Newton St at the rotary.
