Introducing East of the Strip
Why venture off the Strip? Fair question. You won't find any powerhouse attractions east of Las Vegas Blvd, but there are a few draws. Does an expansive collection of one-of-a-kind rock 'n' roll memorabilia tempt you? How about a quirky museum paying homage to Vegas' atomic past? Let's not forget great-value eateries and bars popular with locals, funky secondhand shopping, the city's best comics shop, a low-key university scene, and a vibrant gay and lesbian nightlife sector. The center of off-Strip gravity swings east toward Paradise Rd, where the dynamic Hard Rock anchors the after-dark action. The Fruit Loop, further south toward the airport, is the epicenter of Vegas' gay and lesbian community. Daytime, it's all business further north on Paradise Rd near the city's convention center and the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino; it's a different story at night, when business travelers and college students come out to play.
