El Rey de Las Fritas
- Miami, USA
- Restaurants › Cuban
If you’ve never had a frita, or Cuban burger, make your peace with McDonalds and come down to El Rey with the lawyers, developers, construction workers and every other slice of Miami’s Latin life. These fritas are big, juicy and served under a mountain of shoestring fries. Plus, the batidos (Latin American milkshakes) definitely bring the boys to the yard.

Islas Canarias
- Miami, USA
- Restaurants › Cuban
Islas may not look like much, sitting in a strip mall, but it serves some of the best Cuban in Miami. The ropa vieja is delicious, and there are nice Spanish touches on the menu (the owner’s father is from the Canary Islands, hence the restaurant’s name). Don’t pass up the signature homemade chips, especially the ones cut from plantains.

Oasis
- Miami, USA
- Restaurants › Cuban
This excellent Cuban café has a customer base that ranges from the working poor to city players, and the socio-economic barriers come tumbling down fast as folks sip high-octane Cuban coffee. Between the super-strong coffee and masas de puerco – marinated pork chunks, which go great with hot sauce – we’re in hole-in-the-wall heaven.
