Lonely Planet review for Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous
Tucked in an alleyway off Union Ave, this subterranean institution sells an astonishing 5 tons of its exquisite dry-rubbed ribs weekly. Friendly service and walls plastered with historic memorabilia make eating here an event.

Quintessential Memphis
arestotts recommends this,
"The Rendezvous", as we call it in Memphis, is a local icon. If you want to say you know Memphis, you should know about this restaurant located in an alley near the famous Peabody Hotel. Not really vegetarian-friendly, though.

Overrated ribs, but still worth the visit
pwessels recommends this,
Memphis must-see! The ribs are a little over-rated, but the yummy BBQ sauce and surprisingly good red beans and rice make up for it. For BBQ, I would recommend the Pig on Beale or-if you have a car-Central BBQ at Central and East Pkwy.

Fantastic Ribs
rgrizz recommends this,
To get to Rendezvous you have to go down a grungy back alley, but don't let it deter you. These are the best ribs I've ever had. The selection on the menu is good, but ribs are the reason to eat here. There are several sauces (mild, hot, etc), so the food can be made to suit any taste. It's not a romantic setting, but it's a great place for a date or with friends. The service isn't overly friendly, but they do a good job. It's not too pricey, either.
