Lonely Planet review for Blues City Cafe
Coined 'the best meal on Beale', the Blues City Cafe is a great choice for chowing on some good old Southern fare while listening to local bands. Take you're pick from ribs, steaks, tamales...whilst listening to live music Tuesday to Sunday.

Best hickory smoked ribs anywhere!
sk2008 recommends this,
Walking in Memphis.....along famous Beale street, whether you're feet are ten feet off like Marc Cohn or not, this is a great place to stop for hickory smoked ribs. Authentic Southern cooking contributes dollops, but its really the 'falling-off-the-bone' ribs with the signature maple BBQ sauce that puts this place firmly on the culinary map. It's kid-friendly, open late and has some good live music gigs nightly to help "DYMO" (or Dance Your Meal Off as they say) including Rocking Blues, Jazz fusion, Blue Revue and R&B. The only drawback is that vegetarians get the short end of the rib with very limited choice, but then Memphis ribs definitely are the centrepiece in any meal you eat in in the Blues city, so go there for the meat eater in your family or group - Sapna
